Chicago’s in freefall, but this number is pricing them like they’re a G-League team—and that’s where the value opens up. The Bulls have dropped six straight and just got waxed at home by Detroit, so the market is going to auto-pilot to “fade Chicago.” Meanwhile New York’s overall record looks strong (37-21), but they’ve been far more ordinary away (14-13) and just played a tight, emotional 108-106 win last night. This sets up as a classic “better team wins, dog covers” profile.

Two angles the line isn’t fully accounting for:

1) Schedule/effort spot + backdoor math. Both teams are on one day rest, but the Knicks are traveling into a conference road game after a nail-biter. Big favorites in this spot tend to manage the game, not chase margin—especially if they build any kind of lead. With +10.5, we don’t need Chicago to be good for 48 minutes; we need them to compete for pockets and stay live for the late-game foul/bench scoring window.

2) Chicago’s home baseline vs market panic. The Bulls are 15-14 at home despite the ugly overall record. That’s not the profile of a team that should routinely be catching double digits on its own floor. Yes, they’re struggling, but the spread is reflecting the worst-case version of Chicago while giving New York credit for being elite everywhere—when they’ve been much less dominant away from Madison Square Garden.

Matchup-wise, New York has also shown volatility game-to-game (including an 80-118 loss at Detroit recently), which is another reason laying a big number on the road is dangerous. Chicago can lose again—very likely—but losing by 6-10 is a realistic result if the Knicks go into clock-kill mode.
