Houston +3.5 - Strong defensive road team getting key number vs Miami at home, value on the dog

Houston Rockets @ Miami Heat — February 28, 2026

The Narrative

The market's telling us Miami is the play at home. I'm here to tell you the market is wrong by at least a point, and one book already knows it (Rebet hanging +3). Houston just took down Orlando in Orlando two nights ago — their fourth straight cover and fifth win in six games. Miami? They've dropped two straight on the road by a combined 18 points and look cooked after that brutal Philly/Milwaukee back-to-back. This isn't the Heat team that dropped 136 on Memphis a week ago. This is a team limping home, and the Rockets are one of the league's best road dogs this season at 17-14 away from Toyota Center.

Here's the edge: Houston's defense travels. They held Orlando to 108 two nights ago, held Utah to 105 before that, and squeezed Sacramento into 97 at home. Miami just allowed 124 to Philly and 128 to Milwaukee — both on the road, yes, but their defensive intensity has cratered. The Heat are 14-18 away and just 17-11 at home, which tells you they're not some dominant home court monster. Meanwhile, Houston is battle-tested on the road (17-14) and just covered a tougher matchup in Orlando.

The kicker? One sharp book already moved this to +3. That half-point matters. If you're getting Rockets +2.5, you're getting worse value than the sharp money. But even at +2.5, I'm hammering it. Houston has the better record, better recent form, and better defensive profile. Miami's home edge isn't worth laying points with their current form.

The Pick

Houston Rockets +2.5 (-110) | 3 units
Secondary: Over 225.5 (-110) | 2 units

Houston covers or wins outright. Miami's defensive lapses + Houston's pace (they can run when needed) also push this total over in a back-and-forth game. Rockets have gone Over in 4 of their last 6, and Miami's defense is Swiss cheese right now.
