Dayton's Road Struggles Meet George Mason's Home Dominance — But This Line Is Backwards

George Mason is 15-1 at home. Dayton is 3-6 on the road. The Patriots have Will Thomas, an absolute monster at 16.1 ppg and 10.4 rpg on 64% shooting. They're favored by 1.5-2.5 depending on the book.

Here's the problem: George Mason is coming off back-to-back blowout losses and just scored 53 points.

The Patriots lost at George Washington 53-72 and at Richmond 70-82 — both absolute faceplants. They haven't won in nine days. Meanwhile, Dayton just beat Davidson 70-59 at home and has had three full days to prepare for this spot. The Flyers might be 3-6 on the road, but two of those wins came in their last four road games (St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's). They're better than that record suggests.

The pace narrative here is crucial. George Mason averages 64.1 ppg — one of the slowest offenses in college basketball. Dayton puts up 72.7 ppg and assists on 15.1 possessions per game (vs. George Mason's 11.7). The Flyers want to push. The Patriots want to grind. In a game where the home team is scoring 64 per night and just dropped 53 in their last outing, you're laying points on a team that can't score?

Brian Roberts is the best pure scorer on the floor (18.5 ppg on 46% shooting, 46% from three). Keith Waleskowski gives Dayton a legit post presence to counter Thomas. The Flyers have the offensive firepower to hang in what should be a low-60s slugfest.

George Mason's 15-1 home record is real, but the market is overweighting it. This is a team in a mini-crisis, having lost three of four and getting smoked in two straight road games. The five days of rest doesn't erase the fact that they just scored 53 points and shot 30% from the field. Dayton's road struggles are baked into this number, but the Flyers are better than a field goal underdog in this spot.

The Pick: Dayton +1.5 (-110) | 3 units

Lean the under if you want a secondary — George Mason's offensive collapse plus Dayton's solid defense makes 137.5 feel high. But the main play is riding the Flyers to keep this close or steal one on the road.
