The Line Is Giving Rice Zero Credit for Rest

Tulane comes in hot with four wins in five games, but they're getting zero rest advantage here. The Green Wave just played Wednesday night, grinding out a road win at North Texas. Meanwhile, Rice has been sitting idle for eight full days — their last game was February 14th. That's not a scheduling quirk, that's a massive edge the line isn't properly pricing.

Here's what jumps off the page: Rice shoots 38.6% from three as a team and Morris Almond is bombing at 45.6% on huge volume. Tulane's perimeter defense has been suspect all season, and when you give a rested team with shooters extra prep time, they show up ready to execute. Rice's 3-8 road record looks ugly on paper, but four of those losses came in true road grinders early in conference play. This team has talent — they just haven't had the scheduling breaks.

The other angle? Tulane's two-headed monster of Brumbaugh and Timmons is averaging 35.8 PPG combined, but Timmons is shooting just 39.3% from deep and Brumbaugh is at 34.8%. Compare that to Rice's elite shooting across the board — five guys who can go for 15+, with Almond as the nuclear option. When Rice's offense is humming, they can hang 80+ on anybody (see: 86 vs North Texas, 83 vs East Carolina on the road).

Tulane's been grinding out wins, but look closer: 77-71 at North Texas, 55-54 at UAB, 78-76 at Memphis. These are one-possession nail-biters, not dominant performances. Rice comes in fully rested, with their best shooter on the planet, against a home team that's played three times in the last week.

The Pick: Rice +5.5 (-110) | 3 Units

Give me the rested underdog with elite shooting and a favorable matchup. If Rice's shots fall early, Tulane doesn't have the gear to pull away. This one stays tight into the final four minutes, and I'll gladly take the free buckets.

Secondary: Over 146.5 (-108) | 2 Units

Both teams can score in bunches when the tempo picks up, and Rice's rest advantage means cleaner execution offensively. Tulane's last six games have averaged 147.5 total points. Rice rested and motivated? I'm betting they push the pace and we sail over this mid-140s number.
