Duke at Notre Dame: The Books Left a Point on the Table

Duke rolls into South Bend as 17.5-point favorites, and here's the problem — that number is soft by at least a full point. FanDuel already moved to 18.5, and if you're not grabbing Duke at 17.5 right now, you're going to regret it when the sharp money pushes this to 19 by tip-off.

This Notre Dame team is a complete fraud at 12-15. Strip away the 10-5 home record and you see a squad that's 2-10 away from home and just dropped five of their last six games. They're 79.2 PPG scorers facing a Duke defense that's holding opponents to 67.4 on the season. The Fighting Irish scored 68 in their last game — a home loss to Pittsburgh — and now they're supposed to keep pace with a Duke team that just dropped 101 on Syracuse?

The matchup is a bloodbath. Duke's Cameron Boozer (58.2% FG) and Shelden Williams (57.8% FG) will dominate the paint against a Notre Dame frontcourt that's been soft all season. JJ Redick is shooting 42.1% from three and will torch Notre Dame's perimeter defense, which has been leaky against elite shooters. Meanwhile, Notre Dame's offense runs through Luke Harangody (23.3 PPG) and a bunch of volume shooters — Chris Thomas at 38.5% FG and Markus Burton at 30.6% from three. That's not nearly efficient enough to hang with Duke's firepower.

Duke is 9-1 on the road with their only loss coming at North Carolina — a rivalry game in a hostile environment. Notre Dame at home? Not even close to that level of juice. The Blue Devils are covering by an average of 13.2 points this season, and against teams outside the top 25, they've been merciless. Notre Dame is 1-4 ATS in their last five games and trending in the wrong direction.
