The Line Disagrees With Itself — And I'm Fading the Favorite

North Carolina Central is a 2.5-point road favorite, but three books have this at 1.5, and one splits the difference at 2. That's not market efficiency — that's hesitation. And when the books can't agree on a MEAC game between two bad teams, I'm looking for the dog with situational value.

Here's what jumps out: NCCU is 2-13 on the road this season. They just got boat-raced at Howard (67-100) and South Carolina State (72-85) in back-to-back road games. They can't shoot (20.7% from three, dead last in D1), and Delaware State — despite being 6-21 — is actually 5-6 at home. That home/away split is massive. NCCU's road incompetence is baked into their 10-18 record, but this line isn't respecting it enough.

The head-to-head on Feb 9th was NCCU winning 72-63 at home. Now they're catching 2.5 on the road in a revenge spot for Delaware State, who's had a full week to prepare. Delaware State shoots 44.1% from the field and 36.8% from three — both significantly better than NCCU. They're not a good team, but they defend their home court better than their overall record suggests. Roy Bright (19.1 ppg) and Jahsha Bluntt (15.5 ppg) can score enough to keep this close, and NCCU's offensive limitations on the road (they've scored 67, 72, 56, 68 in their last four away games) mean they're not blowing anyone out.

The total sitting at 135.5 is also too high. Delaware State's last six games have gone 82, 91, 75, 72, 65, 57 — four of six under this number. NCCU's road offense is anemic. I'm expecting a slugfest in the 60s.

The Pick: Delaware State +2.5 (-110) — 3 units. If you can grab +3 or better at a different book, hammer it. Secondary lean: Under 135.5 — 2 units. This game stays in the 130s or lower.
