Temple's Free Fall Meets Rice's Road Misery — And the Line is Begging You to Fade the Favorites

Temple just dropped five straight, and the books still want you to lay a full touchdown? I'm not buying it. This line opened at 7.5, dipped to 6.5 at FanDuel, and settled around 7 — classic public fade spot. Temple's losing streak includes getting torched by UAB at home and blowing a lead to North Texas. They're scoring 66.6 PPG while shooting 40.2% from the field and a brutal 32.3% from three. That's a bottom-tier offense, and it's getting worse — they've topped 70 points just once in their last six games.

Rice is 3-9 on the road, but let's talk about what they do have: Morris Almond, a legit first-team All-Conference scorer dropping 26.4 PPG on 45.6% from deep, and Mike Harris, a double-double machine at 20.6 and 11.7 boards. Rice's offensive efficiency (74.4 PPG, 46.9% FG, 38.6% 3P) dwarfs Temple's anemic attack. The Owls can score. Their problem is they turn it over (16.5 TO/game), but Temple's defense isn't elite enough to capitalize — they force just 9.1 steals/game and give up 66.6 themselves.

Here's the angle: Temple can't score enough to cover 7.5 points against a team with two NBA-caliber scorers. Even in a slugfest, Rice has the firepower to keep this within a possession. Temple's five-game skid includes three single-digit losses, meaning they're competitive but not dominant. This number assumes Temple suddenly remembers how to finish games. I'm not counting on it.

The total sits at 141.5, and that feels high given Temple's recent unders (four of their last five stayed under 145 combined points). But Rice plays faster and scores more efficiently. I like the side better.

The Pick: Rice +7.5 at -110 | 3 Units
Secondary: Under 141.5 at -108 | 2 Units

Rice keeps this close or wins outright. Temple's offense is broken, and the market hasn't adjusted quickly enough. Lay the points with the better team, or grab the dog who can shoot. I'm riding Morris Almond and Mike Harris to cover.
